Our Spaniard instructor just kept saying, “nothing’s going to happen to you, you can trust me on that…” I just kept looking at his cast.

Yep. That is the cast.

In retrospect, this picture was a bad idea; scorpions love those outcrops.

I met these guys during a solo ride (yeah, don’t do that) and they let me join them.
They heard my four-stroke engine from a mile away and decided to stick around to see who it was.
Kindly, they sat at the top and waited to see if I was going to need any help getting up the slope.
Confident of my skills (ahem! yes! I’ll go with that!) I decided to break my momentum and pause, in the middle of the climb, to take the picture. Picking up where I’d left off was fun!

Nope. Not Australia. Still El Salvador.

Eduardo Duch leading the charge—long time no see, buddy!
I took this picture right after the two, 2001, earthquakes that hit El Salvador exactly 1 month apart. The road was rendered unusable as a result—for most purposes, that is.
The sign is interesting: “YOU ARE DRIVING AT YOUR OWN RISK”
